Handwork by artisans

The local craftsmen in Osaka carefully works on each product with their skills inherited from the elders. To best enhance the natural qualities of wood, the craftsmen continue their trial and error process to pursue new possibilities.

Traditional skills of artisans.

The exquisite form of cedar:

Burning the surface of the cedar brings out the texture of the wood, becomes carbonized, making it prone to rain. This ancient method was commonly used for house construction up until the Showa period. Tsunekichi applies this method for bento box production as well. The genuine, uncolored pattern of the wood adds an unrefined, natural elegance to the design; what we consider a fusion of old and new methodologies.
